Han, 12

He's flexible enough to twist himself into a pretzel and he has a special gift for making music. We recently gave him a recorder and he suddenly started producing songs. You won't catch us complaining. He has a younger-by-a-year brother, Hat, and I'm not convinced you could ever find a more hilarious bond.

His Story

Each child's story is their own to tell so we share only the parts that are appropriate. In time, we believe the testimony that God is giving them is something they'll share to help and encourage others. Until that time, we will share those things which aren't too deeply personal but will still give you insight into the hearts and minds of these young people God has sent to us.

October 2024 Update

Han has always been a character since we've known him, but the past year has brought so much of his personality out. It's like he's bloomed where he's been planted and we now have the pleasure of enjoying these new dimensions of who he is.

He's the youngest of the older kids who are in "high school" but in some ways he sets the tone for them when it comes to reading his Bible, thinking on a spiritual level, and being determined to grow. He's definitely got a quick mind and he's not as easily influenced (in bad ways) as many other boys his age.

When we offered the children the choice of what instrument they wanted to learn, he immediately chose the recorder. We ordered it and upon arrival, Han took right to it and began producing actual music. He then moved to a wooden flute whistle (I don't know the actual name of it) and he plays it beautifully. He's learning to read music slowly but God has endowed him with the gift of being able to play by ear. He'll listen to a hymn carefully and then just play it. It's my first experience with somebody who could do that without ever being taught how to play and my mind is repeatedly blown at the capacity God has given humanity.

Han is older by a year than his brother, Hat, and never will you ever find a bigger cheerleader than he is to his nong (younger brother).
